One of our newest wines

Last year we made a wine using candy canes.  Yep candy canes it wasn't very good to begin with, but it has proven over time that it was not to be drunk as a young wine.  It has since mellowed out and is much better, though it might still taste good in hot chocolate.

We also made out Alzheimer's Awareness wine which was a plum horehound.  Now I myself am not a fan of horehound, but I like this wine.

Our beginnings...

Bennett Street Wines began when for Christmas one year we as a family decided to try our hand at wine making.  There were to be 3 wines made from 3 different members of the family: a rhubarb wine, a dandlion wine and a plum wine.  Of the 3 chosen wines the plum wasn't made, at least not till later.  The dandilion need to be fixed, and the rhubarb turned out, in our minds, just right.

Grandma's Rhubarb wine, was the debut wine of Bennett Street Winery.  Since then we have made other kinds, of which only one has been a straight grape wine.  We try the unusually, like potato or tomato and basil (which we call our Pizza wine).

Our goal is to share the wines we've made and the lessons we've learned.  We learned that watermelon is not a stand alone fruit for a wine and should be mixed with either strawberry or rhubarb.  So check back and see what new wine we will try next, we might just surprise you.  Have a suggestion, toss it to us and maybe we'll try it.
